That dreaded phone call when you need to cancel a service, change energy provider or switch your mobile phone network provider.. Normally involves having to wait in a queue and once you get to speak to someone you are asked several questions about why you want to leave. It’s not particularly fun and it’s enough for people to actually prevent switching their services and benefiting from improved deals and services.
Well not any more, at least for mobile phone accounts. The good people at Ofcom (the government-approved regulators for telecommunication services) have introduced a convenient new way to cancel or switch your mobile phone contract.
It’s worth double checking that you are indeed out of contract otherwise you are likely to have to pay charges to end your contract early, you can do this by texting ‘INFO’ to 85075.
This arrangement takes the hassle and stress away from customers who wish to take their business elsewhere. I also believe it will now force networks to become more proactive with their customers coming up to renewal, for far too long the operators have been able to easily keep customers on expensive out of contract tariffs until they called in to switch, at which point they had an opportunity to retain the customer.
